Soma is the Greek word for “body”. A somatic (i.e. body-based mindfulness) approach to coaching is person-centered and process-oriented with the emphasis on the present moment.

Somatic coaching supports you in your own unfolding process and goes beyond your thinking mind, so that your body can also share its insights and give you clarity. In addition to incorporating the traditional aspects of life coaching such as goal-setting, accountability, and next steps, somatic coaching incorporates the wisdom of both the body and mind for a holistic approach. Neuroscientist Candace Pert who coined the term “bodymind” describes how “[t]he body is not a mindless machine; the body and mind are one.”

Somatic coaching is informed by various modalities such as Gestalt, Focusing, Hakomi, and Organic Intelligence, as well as interpersonal neurobiology, polyvagal theory, and systems theory. This approach to coaching recognizes that our neurology, psychology, and biology are interconnected. It will help you reconnect with your inner sensations and emotions while welcoming all parts of yourself to emerge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during a session?
We will focus on a topic that is alive for you and that you want to explore through somatic coaching. For example, this could be a specific situation, a decision you need to make, a goal you want to accomplish in your life, or how you want to approach a certain issue. Sessions include aspects of traditional life coaching such as clarifying a goal for the session, accountability, and next steps, as well as incorporating grounding exercises and experiments (i.e., orientation, body-scan, visualization, embodiment, and more).


Who do you work with?
I work with adults of every gender, race, ethnicity, age, ability, and sexual orientation. You are welcome here.


How often can I work with you?
I work with clients 2, 3, or 4 times per month.


How long are sessions, and where are they held?
Sessions are 50-60 minutes each and take place virtually on Zoom.


Pricing

Tiered Pricing for 1:1 Somatic Coaching

I recognize that we all live with different financial realities. I encourage you to pay at the highest rate you are able to afford and not automatically choose the lowest rate. A sliding scale invites you to choose your rate with intention and allows more people to access this service.

$225/session

For those with higher incomes and budgets. By choosing this tier, you’re helping support coaching for those with fewer resources.

$175/session

For those able to meet most needs, if not wants. You have relatively steady income, and/or spousal or family support. You may have some manageable debt. You may need to cut back on some discretionary spending temporarily for coaching services.

$125/session

For those living paycheck to paycheck and/or with significant debt.
